Kilimanjaro Route

6 Days Umbwe Route

6 Days Umbwe Route

Umbwe Route is perhaps the least patronized on Kilimanjaro. Beginning at the tropical forest it goes between Machame Route, then meet it at Barranco Camp (3800m). The shortest of the routes, Umbwe - with its sharp climb and some acclimatization time - is one the toughest on Mt. Kilimanjaro, whereas still screening off the natures of the mountain ground with its different ecological zones and open views. Whereas the camps between Umbwe Route to Uhuru Peak are suited to take a day of acclimatization, this is still one of the more harder ways to a summit of Kilimanjaro. Earlier climbing experience is, hence, suggested for trekkers planning to choose Umbwe Route on the way to the rooftop of Africa.

8 Days Machame Route

At a full length of 65km, Machame (known as Whiskey Route) is one of the most famous for Kilimanjaro Trakker. We, at Top Kilimanjaro, would suggest the short 6-day itinerrary only to those with trekking experience, judicious level of fitness and a desire for a challenge. The main struggle lies in an altitude increase of over 2,000m (6,600 feet) in 24hours including summiting, come up in a 7% drop in victory rates. If you are planning to choose Machame Route in November, on April or May, the trail may be wind-swept by rain making the trek harder. The 7-day itinerary, on the other hand, provide success rates of 85% due to regular acclimatization and shall suit anyone wishful to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro.

6 Days Lemosho Route

Climb duration: 6 – 7 days The Lemosho route is an un-failed, distant, slightly used and lovely way up to Shira Plateau. Lemosho is one of the few where groups may be escorted at day one by an armed ranger, as the forests everywhere the Lemosho Gaps are inhabited by elephant and other wildlife animals. The minimum climbing duration via Lemosho route is 6 days, but we strongly suggest hiking Kilimanjaro via this route in 7 days. The extra 7th day will give your body further time to acclimatize, reducing the effects of altitude sickness and stretch you more time to rest before bidding the summit.

5 Days Marangu Route

Marangu Route, One of the easiest route, Marangu route is one of the most popular routes to reach the top of Kilimanjaro (Uhuru Peak). This might partly be as an outcome of the fact that the Marangu is the slightest expensive route, but more so, perhaps the fact that it is possible to do the Marangu route in 5 days, thereby reaching to summit one day earlier related to the secondly easier & famous route, Machame route. This is not always the greatest way, due to a little acclimatization period. The main difference among the Marangu 5 day and 6-day routes is the extra acclimatization day at Horombo Hut.
